QMX Construction and Drive Options
QMX housings are welded steel with slip fit duct connections and built-in lifting lugs for rigging. Belt drive models use cast regreasable bearings, a four-bolt motor plate for belt tensioning, and a field adjustable motor position. Bearing life is rated L-50 over 200,000 hours.
Standard units handle air to 180°F, with an alternate build rated to 500°F. Spark resistant construction is available on request, and a high-pressure build, the QMX-HP, covers jobs that need more static than the standard QMX. The QMX is the welded mixed flow option in Cook’s mixed flow line; the SQN square inline fan is the centrifugal alternative where a square duct fit and side discharge matter more than mixed flow performance.
QMX Listings and Certifications
The QMX is licensed under the AMCA Certified Ratings Program for sound and air, tested to AMCA 211 and AMCA 311. Optional UL Smoke Control and UL Restaurant Exhaust listings and seismic OSHPD certification are available when the job calls for them.
QMX Motor, Wheel, Belt, and Bearing Parts
Heinlein stocks and sources QMX parts, including the QMX motor, the mixed flow wheel, the drive belt, the bearings, and the motor plate hardware. Have the model and serial number from the unit tag ready and we will match the correct part.
As an authorized Loren Cook distributor, Heinlein can supply QMX parts even for older units that are no longer made, and can quote a single part or a whole replacement fan for any issue.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the QMXD and QMXB?
QMXD is direct drive, with the motor coupled to the wheel for fewer moving parts and less maintenance. QMXB is belt drive, which lets you set fan speed through the drive selection. Both mount inline the same way.
How large does the QMX get?
Sizes run 90 through 165, with airflow to 119,500 CFM and static pressure to 9 inches across the line. We will size the right model from your airflow and static pressure.
