KSP Housing and Filter Construction
The housing is minimum 18 gauge galvanized steel bolted to a minimum 16 gauge steel base with pre-punched mounting holes and a 3-inch integral skirt. All fasteners are corrosion resistant. The insulated top cover uses quick-release latches for tool-free access to the motor and drive components.
Every KSP ships with one-inch permanent washable aluminum filters standard. Two-inch washable aluminum filters are available as an option. The intake hood includes reinforcing cross breaks to prevent drumming.
KSPB Belt Drive Components
The KSPB blower assembly sits on rubber vibration isolators. The motor is NEMA B with class B insulation, rated for continuous duty. Bearings on sizes 90 through 180 are permanently lubricated sealed ball type selected for a minimum L50 life of 200,000 hours. Size 200 uses heavy duty regreasable ball bearings in a cast iron housing with the same L50 rating.
Belts are oil and heat resistant, non-static type. Drives are precision machined cast iron, keyed to both the wheel and motor shafts, and sized for 150 percent of installed motor horsepower. The variable pitch motor drive is factory set to the specified fan RPM. The wheel is a forward curved DWDI centrifugal type made of painted steel, balanced per AMCA Standard 204-05.
KSPD Direct Drive Components
The KSPD uses an open drip-proof motor with permanently lubricated sealed bearings and built-in thermal overload protection. The motor assembly is mounted on rubber vibration isolators. The KSPD covers three cabinet sizes and is suited for lower-volume kitchen supply applications where belt drive maintenance is not practical.

NFPA 96 Installation with KSP and VCR
The KSP meets NFPA 96 fresh air requirements when installed with a Loren Cook VCR exhaust fan on a common curb cap. The VCR mounts on one side with a hinged base, vented extension, and grease collection device. The KSP mounts on the other side with an intake extension.
NFPA 96 requires the exhaust fan outlet to sit a minimum of 40 inches above the roof surface, with the supply fan intake at least 10 feet from the exhaust outlet. Where 10 feet of horizontal separation is not possible, a 3-foot minimum vertical separation with a special extended vented extension is acceptable. Call us with your roof dimensions and exhaust fan model to confirm the correct common curb, intake extension, and accessory configuration.
FAQ
What is the difference between the KSPB and KSPD?
The KSPB is belt drive with six sizes covering 400 to 12,000 CFM. The KSPD is direct drive with three cabinet sizes covering 100 to 1,800 CFM. Belt drive gives more flexibility in motor selection and speed adjustment. Direct drive eliminates belt maintenance for smaller applications.
Can the KSP be ordered with side discharge?
Yes. Side discharge is a factory option on all KSP sizes. Cabinet and curb dimensions are the same for both discharge directions. Specify side or bottom discharge at the time of order.
What speed control options are available?
The KSP supports FSC, VFD, Vari-Flow, and SimpliDrive speed control options. Motor types include AC and EC.
